This well-established eatery has recently undergone an exciting transformation under new ownership, which diners consistently praise for significantly sharpening the quality and taste of the food. From the moment you step inside, the inviting, casual atmosphere sets the stage for a memorable dining experience that delights all the senses.

Kim Tar truly shines in its menu variety, especially for seafood lovers. Standout dishes such as the House Special Lobster with Ginger and Scallions perfectly balance delicate lobster tenderness with the fragrant punch of aromatic scallions and ginger. The Walnut Shrimp boasts a luscious, creamy coating combined with a delightful crunch from toasted walnuts, creating layers of texture and flavor that linger satisfyingly with every bite.

If noodle soups warm your soul, their Noodle Soup of the Day is a must-try—serving up a savory broth enriched with thin egg noodles, succulent shrimp, fish balls, and slices of pork. It’s a comforting and flavorful bowl that speaks to the kitchen’s meticulous approach to broth and freshness, a detail not lost on aficionados like Kendrick Khoe, who highlights the soup’s light yet savory notes with aromatic garlic and shallots. For those who prefer crisp texture contrasts, the Seafood Chow Fun and the Hong Kong Crispy Noodles offer a tantalizing medley of textures with fresh seafood and perfectly wok-tossed noodles.

Kim Tar’s go-to items extend beyond seafood, showcasing hearty meats like the expertly seasoned House Special Pork Chop in its rich, spicy butter sauce and the alluring Kung Pao Shrimp, which melds heat with the crunch of peanuts for a vibrant explosion of flavors. Their House Special Chicken Wings and Asian Chicken Salad also keep guests coming back, providing diverse flavors that balance spice, savory, and fresh crispness.

What makes dining at Kim Tar truly special is the palpable passion and care that infuse every dish. Reviewers like Chris H rave about the impeccably cooked lobster and moist, flavorful noodles, calling Kim Tar their “new favorite spot.” Meanwhile, Jessica Lim celebrates the vibrancy of the shaken beef and green beans, capturing just how deeply satisfying each bite can be. The house special lobster with noodles is AMAZING! I know there a few other places that serve this dish but Kim Tar is our favorite. The lobster is cooked perfectly, moist and flavorful and so was the noodles. Their filet mignon was delicious as well. definitely our new favorite spot.

My coworker suggested this spot and it was a good choice for some delicious Chinese food. I just ordered their chow mein Hong Kong crispy noodles and walnut shrimp. Both were good and filled me up for lunch. A solid dining experience overall. I’d definitely come back here again to try their other menu items. Love that it opens early too.

Excellent food! #8 House Special Noodle Soup - I ordered one with the thin egg noodles, it is served with sliced pork, shrimp, fish ball, fish cake, ground pork. Soup is light yet savory, has strong scent of garlic and shallots. Good lunch item. There are way more interesting stuff to order than this however if you are not specifically craving noodle soup. #120 French Style Beef with steam rice - this is a popular Vietnamese food offering in SoCal. Their rendition , though beef was very tender was not a version I will call the best I had. It was still quite an enjoyable dish. #123 House Special Pork Chop with rice - It has a slight sweetness to it. I think it is one you should order. #34 House Special Chicken Wings - that is a must order. Sweet savory chicken wings! #L15 - House Special Chicken is $13.50 for lunch with rice. The taste is very buttery. It quite good!! #L33 - Salt and Pepper prawn. That was very crispy and really good for $13.50.

First time at Kim Tar and it was pretty damn good! Came with my fiancée and friends, and everyone loved it. The food came out fast, everything was hot, fresh, and super flavorful. We tried the french style beef, hot and sour soup, salt and pepper shrimp, green beans, and fried rice. All of it was on point and the portions were generous! Good portions for big parties. The staff were really nice, attentive and welcoming. Definitely coming back soon!
